I'm starting this off with a simple welcome and a quick presentation of myself:

My name is Kim. I am a tech-head, but a noob. At least I feel like a noob. My skillset is very varied, yet I don't consider myself proficient in a single thing (yet). So maybe instead of calling it skills I'll call it interests.

This blog was created as a way to for me to share my interests with you, world. The particular interests in this case being my passion for self-hosting web apps that I use regularly (some even daily).

Self Hosting is a form of running your own website or application by setting up a server and network yourself. Instead of using a Platform as a Service or a Public Cloud Provider, those who choose to self-host will run their own networks and be responsible for the maintenance and uptime in addition to building their website or application.

I will not write precise how-to's for all my setups, but I will strive to link some great tutorials to most of the topics. This will be more of a light documentation of my projects and hopefully some help and ideas to other noobs.

I'll start with a series on self hosting and maybe later we move on to other stuff like IoT, electronics or 3d-printing. There's no limits basically.
I also predict some deviation along the way so there might be some non-geek topics at times.

Awesome! Cool! My first ever blog!
